Hotel Shattuck Plaza - Berkeley

Nice experience there. First-rate brand-new place with marvellous location right by downtown Berkeley as well as the restaurant. Nice building and rooms with king-size comfortable bed. Comfortable decoration.

Breakfast disappointing.

I was there for 6 nights and ate at gourmet restaurant for dinner and breakfast. I really enjoyed the breakfast, the food was well presented. It was in a very central location, in the area for a business meeting at the near by college campus.

A superior king room on different outside walls has basic facilities you need. There is a very nice gourmet restaurant for dinner and breakfast...

I adored the vintage art deco style throughout. The staff were attentive, quickly helping me with my luggage and providing thoughtful recommendations for nearby restaurants. The location made it easy to explore beautiful Berkeley.

More comfortable seating options in common areas.

Our initial room on the second floor was not acceptable as the the 'view' out the window was vents and ducts. We moved to a suite on the fourth floor which was spacious, lovely and very comfortable. The only drawback was lack of shelf space in the bathroom. The staff was helpful and gracious but room service was slow in delivering our morning espresso which were delivered cold. All in all, a good experience and we would return.

No shelf space near sink. Slow response for extra bath towel. Slow room service.

Location: the hotel was adjacent to UC Berkeley and bus stops. The room was functional with a private bathroom.

The city view from our beautiful king room was excellent. The breakfast location was inviting.

The staff is wonderful, particularly in the restaurant. Very pleasant, attentive, professional and genuinely friendly. An unexpected change from the surly and untrained people at so many establishments these days.

The noise from Shattuck Ave. At night.

Fresh, updated and eclectic. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was close to many different restaurants and the university. It is a great walking area. I would recommend the Shattuck to everyone. We really enjoyed our stay.

The room was comfortable, but the poorly designed layout was frustrating.

We were moved to Room 551 the second night which was a larger room with heat and a view of San Francisco and the bay. We were much happier with this room.

The first night we were put in Room 251 which had no heat, was too noisy, too small and no view except ductwork. We were not happy and complained.

easy access to parks and farmers' markets for city strolls

I loved being just a few steps from the Downtown Berkeley Farmers' Market and the beautiful Berkeley Rose Garden, made my weekend city strolls enjoyable and picturesque.

The staff was gracious and helpful--from the front desk to the cleaning crew. Fun, upbeat decor and great location.
